Company Philosophy
Siris/Coombs’ architecture is one of “livable modernism” with an emphasis on clear plan organization, dynamic spatial forms, exploration into new materials and attentiveness to details. Recently LEED accredited and a member of the USGBC, Siris/Coombs Architects promote environmental conscientiousness on their list of design skills, which also include skillful analysis of problems, development of conceptual alternatives, providing a clear focus on their clients’ unique needs while maintaining rigorous design standards.
Areas of Expertise / Recent Projects
Jane Siris and Peter Coombs established their award wining practice in 1982 and made their initial splash on the NY scene when they built a tri-plex penthouse for themselves on top of a 12-story building, which was highly publicized nationally and internationally. Since then, the design of rooftop additions has become a unique specialty for the firm. However, Siris/Coombs is also noted for their diversity of projects of striking commercial, institutional and residential work. Institutional clients include Barnard College, Inwood House, and the Putney School. Their long list of beautiful private residences includes homes, townhouses, penthouses, lofts, and apartments, with a number of satisfied repeat clients. Just completed: a landmark Manhattan townhouse with a penthouse addition and subterranean pool, a spectacular 3000 sq ft + penthouse overlooking the Hudson, and under construction: an Arts & Crafts inspired estate in Westchester and two Connecticut homes anticipating LEED certification.
