Company Philosophy
Susan Brunstrum is Founder, Principal and Chief Inspiration Officer of award-winning Sweet Peas Design, which she launched in 2003 as a one-woman firm in Libertyville, IL. Today, Sweet Peas Design is a full-service studio with a talented and dynamic staff of six in Chicago. Clients embrace Susan’s versatile LivableLuxe™ style - a confident blend of relaxed elegance and comfortable refinement. She considers it “the little black dress of interior design”™ – custom tailored for each client and perfect, no matter what the occasion. Susan is a board member for The Design Trust Ltd., an exclusive, New York-based think tank of interior designers nationwide. She is allied with ASID, is a member of Chicago’s River North Design District and a Career Advisory Committee member for Harper College’s Interior Design program. She has been featured on FOX 32 Chicago News, NBC/LXTV’s “Open House” and “George to the Rescue,” the Stephanie Trussell Show on WLS-AM 890 and WGN-Channel 9’s Midday Fix.

The firm's work has been published in national and local media, including Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago, Kitchen + Bath Makeovers, Trends Kitchens, Trends Bathrooms and Crain’s Chicago Business. Among their awards, Susan and her team have earned ASID-Illinois “Design Excellence Awards” in 2016 and 2015, “Best Bathroom 2016” and “Best Living Space 2014” from Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago and two regional Chrysalis Awards, 2015 and 2016. She also has participated three times in the prestigious Lake Forest Show House. On a personal note: Susan has two grown children and lives in Chicago where she explores the dining scene, art galleries and boutiques. She is a fashionista who loves gathering fresh design inspiration during her travels.
