From repairing carousel horses in San Francisco to restoring family heirlooms in Hollywood, LA Stripping & Finishing does a solid job the first time, every time. The small shop is run by the Lukasiewicz brothers, Rand and Zenon. The precocious Rand bought the shop in 1991 at the age of 21 and later recruited Zenon to be a partner.
We hear the two do a good deal of refinishing of mid-century modern furniture, although they have been known to work on fine antique pieces. Dabbling in everything from architectural restoration to cleaning up aging hardware, Rand and Zenon stay busy. On rare occasions, they will travel for projects. Sources tell us LA Stripping has recently taken on the interior restoration of a number of bungalow and Craftsman style homes in the city, as well as the job of refurbishing the passenger cars of the San Bernardino Southern Pacific Railroad. As of last year, the firm also began a distribution business for stripping and refinishing products such as paint removers and lacquer.

"A couple of nice guys who have a great attitude and likeable people." "Totally devoid of ego in a business that can be very snooty. And their work is solid."
